Alright Facepunch, I've ballsed it up once again.
On my original desktop, something died and ended up frying most of everything, resulting in it just starting up for half a second (the fans sort of spin a couple of times) and turn back off. I ended up buying a new motherboard and PSU (motherboard is this one and the PSU was this one) and the PSU ended up being bad (I think?) and it completely wrecked everything upon turning it on. So MSI was kind enough to send me a brand new motherboard and I didn't want to use OCZ again so I went with this PSU. I've put in brand new RAM and CPU so there isn't any of the same parts as before, except when I tried to turn it on for the first time it just spins up the fans for a second and turns off JUST LIKE THE OLD ONE. I've checked tons of times that I plugged everything up correctly, I've read all of the manuals and everything, but I can't figure out what's wrong with it. I even got advice from a guy who has almost the exact same build as me. I must be doing something wrong. Here's a list of the parts that are in it right now (I've tried plugging in a hard drive to see if that would make it boot to no avail)

It's pretty obvious that something is shorting out. The PSUs short circuit protection is turning everything off before damage occurs.
Are you using motherboard standoffs in the case?
Are the standoffs in the right positions and not contacting the motherboard in the wrong spots?
Build the motherboard up on a non-conductive surface outside a case (on a desk or counter) and power it up to see if it works. You can use a small screwdriver to short the power on jumper to turn the motherboard on.
Alright, I've established that I am a fucking idiot and wasn't properly using the standoffs and it works fine now, thanks :)
Wow, nice job bohb. It's not often you find a tech support thread of any kind that gets solved with the first reply. Seriously, fucking awesome job man.
