Hey everyone, as you can tell I'm new but please help XD
This is mainly so that I will be able to play Gmod with nukes and RP servers but anyway, at the moment I have a 5 year old Dell Inspiron Laptop with:
512MB RAM
Intergrated Mobile Intel(R) 945GM Express Chipset Family (Don't moan please)
Genuine Intel(R) CPU T2300 @ 1.66GHz
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition SP 3
Anyway I only just managed to get Gmod working on this by lowering the DXlevel to 7.0 and if not it does not load, so after getting annoyed and with a small budget i found these two PC's, how good are they and will they work properly with Gmod nukes etc.

The answers to the thread are basically going to be this from now on, so save yourself some trouble arguing and learn how to build a computer.

Building a computer isn't hard at all. It's just very expensive legos. You can google it and get tons of results. And you really do save a bunch of money.

Super cheap ass computers that work good is my specialty.
So I'm building you a £300 pc from http://www.overclockers.co.uk/
Just put these in your old/current case and use your hard drive.
well anyway, how are the two comps and does anyone have any better ones that are cheap but good?
Get the parts I recommended you wont regret it. ^_^
right, thanks then everyone, looks like im gonna be building myslef a comp then =D
It's like building with legos.
Remember, a self-built PC can always be both cheaper and better than a prebuilt one.
Because you don't have to pay 500$ to get it put together.
right, thanks then everyone, looks like im gonna be building myslef a comp then =D
Personally, I'd use that extra 80 and get a dedicated video card.
This seems to fit the bill: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-025-PV
I have a Radeon HD 4770, which is slightly more powerful than the 9800GT and I can safely say it's a great amount of performance out of that card.
There is a problem though. You have a laptop. So unless you happen to have a desktop PC laying around, you're not going to be able to reuse the hard drive and case.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-118-WD
Since the motherboard GPU is kinda weak according to this chart:

I'd get this:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-125-OK&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=
If it can play that modern game at that resolution on medium, I'm sure it can play source games at a smaller resolution fine.

how about i buy the dell computer -->http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/topics/segtopic.aspx/minicat/new/upsell/inspiron-570-d005701?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&s=dhs but with it buy that performance package on the right side because my comp at the moment is a laptop that I can't really reuse, so then later when i get some more money ill buy a better graphics card.
Also will this dell's motherboard and PSU be able to handle that Nvidia 9800GT or the Radeon HD4670 or will I have to buy more to upgrade it?
I highly recommend against getting that Dell, again build it yourself. That computer is worse and costs more.
Building your own computer is cheaper and more satsfying that something you use alot you made yourself.
Also what will you do with the old computer?
Spare parts?
Or you could use that computer for internet (wireless or wired is fine for internet purposes.)
quick few questions about building my own computer, all the cases says ATX compatible, is taht what the motherboard you said about Trillan is?
Can I buy any HDD to go into that case thats mobo compatible
Finally it says about an intergrated graphics chip, how would I change that to get to my own one if I choose to buy a dedicated GPU
Sorry, I have no idea about this and need help if Ima build my own PC
1) as long as you aren't getting an ATX motherboard and an m-ATX case, it should be fine (most cases are ATX anyway) it's fine the other way around.
2) There are only two types of hard drive connectors, SATA and IDE, almost all new motherboards have 4 or 6 SATA ports. There isn't any compatibility issues with hard drives, as long as you have the right connector
3) Just buy a graphics card and plug it into you PCI-e slot.
Retard, retard, retard. -.-
LEARN TO BUILD YOUR OWN COMPUTER.

Well I've never done this before Fen so shuuuush =D
And thanks for that rob
Sorry for more questions but this is needed, I have a 4 year old flat screen screen lying around, can I use any screen with my computer if I build it or are there certain requirements so I'd have to buy a screen aswell?
Thanks x 234509876638389394094849. XD

What kind of video connector does it have? Most graphics cards these days come with DVI outputs, some of them also have HDMI or Displayport. DVI to VGA connectors are usually included with the card if you need to connect to a VGA monitor.
I have no idea, anyway, just forget it, I'll try my luck and hope for the best, it's a flat screen monitor so its generally new and should be fine I guess, if not I'll just buy a different cable
Just look at it and tell us what connections it has. That way if you need a cable you can have it sent to you so you don't have to wait with your computer lying around till the cable comes.
Sorry about the late response, was away for a bit, anyway, I think that the screen has a VGA connector.
Also I put together my computer on a build a computer website (ThePCOGroup) and it was actually cheaper than putting together myself at overclockers, here are the specs:
Processor = Phenom II X6 1055T (Six Cores @ 2.8)
Motherboard = MSI 770-C45 Motherboard
RAM = Corsair XMS3 4GB DDR3 @ 1333MHz
HDD = 500GB SATAII HDD (7200rpm)
Optical = Samsung/LG DVD-RW 24x
Graphics Card = Radeon HD 5770 1GB
PSU = Powecool 650W 80+ Dual 12v PSU
Network = Wireless 300N Network Card
OS = Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
CPU Cooler = Gigabyte GH-PSU11-PD X-Power CPU Cooler
Key & Mouse = Logitech 660 Deluxe Keyboard & Mouse Cordless
In total £660 =O
Anyway, will this work with the VGA screen and how good is the computer for the money
Buy from www.scan.co.uk or www.novatech.co.uk or www.ebuyer.co.uk that psu is probably utter shit also
[editline]09:06PM[/editline]
and just get an athlon x4 if you're just playing gmod, or even less

Don't post that link. I got 5 trojans from their fucking viruses.
well I realised that I'm gonna need this computer for like 5 years, so 6 cores sounds good to me, and also I want to buy some other games such as Just Cause 2 and other games that are quite demanding so I need that, but how do you think the system is anyway?

If the graphics card has that on the back of it, you're set. If it doesn't, get a VGA to DVI connector.
They look like this:

For ~$880 USD, that's a pretty damn good computer.
