What is the best way to maximize battery life w/WinXP?

I have an Aspire One netbook with a 6-cell battery. Unfortunately that 6-cell isn't enough to last me the whole day at university and I'd like to avoid carrying my charger. I've configured Windows to always use max battery, and I run as few services as possible. Is there anything else I can do to maximize battery life on this thing? Currently I get 4.5h surfing and word processing.
The BIOS won't even let me access clock settings so I can't underclock my processor. Do Atoms even scale the multiplier upon demand?
Anyways, thanks in advance.
Turn off the wifi/bluetooth when not in use. Lower the screen backlight.
They can, my Eee pc has an atom and it can scale on demand.
4h is all I could get out of mine.
Maybe it's worth purchasing a 9cell battery for it? People have reported upto 9 hours with them.
I have a 9-cell for my MSI Wind.
I got about 8h30m in XP and I'm getting about 7h in Windows 7.
You could try turning it off, battery lasts ages when it's off.

Yes, but rebooting is inconvenient.
4.5 hours for web surfing is all you are going to get out of it really. Also yes Atoms have soeed step so it should be underclocking anyway.

Ah okay.
Thanks. I already have my screen dimmed all the way and all that jazz.

Hibernation
Install Windows 7, and disable Aero.
