777 Studios do a pretty good job with RoF, I'm excited.
Woo! Heres hoping that they stay true to the original game. (IE: no autoejecting dammit)
yeah don't bother to update Cliffs of dover for windows 8, they would even let me return it
[editline]17th December 2012[/editline]
oh and I love rise of fligth but expect 14$ per extra plane
Please don't be unoptimized for the PC like Cliffs of Dover.

IIRC there was an interview where they said they wouldn't do that.
[editline]Edit:[/editline]
Never mind. Based off the dev Q&A they haven't actually decided (or announced) a plan plane-wise. Although there probably won't be buy-able upgrades/weapons/etc.
I know I'll be disappointed, but I hope this is more like the original IL2.
But it won't, it'll be bullshit like CoD and probably charging you by the plane or something.
They're putting the sturmovik back into IL-2 Sturmovik.

Rise of Flight is amazing so I'm sure they'll do great
also their damage model is beautfiful so wait for that
If you just get the RoF Iron cross edition you'd pretty much be set to play, since it includes 10 or so planes for $20. Also, they regularly put up sales and those $15 bombers go down to $5. Not to mention the fact that a ton of people regularly give out planes in this thread:

i'm satisfied with the demo, also its 30$ for the upgrade
Please make it Look and Run just as good as Wings of Prey, but keep the Flight characteristics from the original IL2
That's all I ask

Depends on where you get it. It's $35 from the RoF store, but elsewhere you can find it for much less.
e.g. $8 here http://www.fspilotshop.com/rise-flight-iron-cross-edition-download-p-2740.html
hnng, Rise of Flight is the most fun combat flight simulator I have ever played
777, lets see what you can do with WWII, I hope it's just as fun
Awwwwww yiss.
Here's to hoping they make modding and custom content making as easy as it was in 1946. Though judging from the RoF quick-play system, at least the basics seem to be up to scratch.
I might be alone on this one, but I am pissed at the 'Stalingrad' title. Stalingrad was what killed RO2 for me; since it is such a limited setting, both time-wise and battle-wise. If you look at Ostfront, it ranged from 1941 to 1945; right up to the point where you storm the fuckin' Reichtag. RO2 is stuck in god damn Stalingrad doing dull city-battles instead of any epic combined-arms assaults over open ground, at ranges where a Mosin actually is better than an PPSh and it's an actual tactical choice wether to go with one or the other, instead of just a game of luck in class selection.
Of course, being in the air, the limited battlefield is less of a problem, but I still see plane selection as getting seriously raped up the bum compared to 1946, since they only got planes still in service in 1942 to planes just entering service early 1943; IE, a very short timespan which is just gonna mean it'll be basically Stukas, BF109s, FW190s, Yak-9s and Sturmoviks.
Or Stalingrad is just a title and they'll do the 1946 thing and put everything made from 1932 to 1947 in. That'd get my war-boner on.

But this is just like IL-2 has always been. They've started out with few planes and build it bigger and bigger. The original IL-2 didn't have many flyable planes either.

I know that; but look at Cliffs of Dover. They never added anything to it, and now they're making a sequel? Unless Stalingrad is gonna be a Dover addon or standalone expansion or whatever, I see this as a bad sign.

You can get the iron cross edition for like 8 $ from somewhere, i'll try to find the link, nevermind someone already posted it.

Can't be an addon since it's on an another engine entirely if anything they'll likely reuse assets from Dover.

Nothing wrong with CoD except the fact that it ran terribly.
