Magnificent.
I'l take 100 copies
I've definitely gotta give this a go. Been looking for a good excuse to play through the HL series again.
Everything related with Doom and modern times seem to make the news, neat.
Okay that is really fucking awesome. Best mod I've seen in a while.
I fucking lost it when the door went upwards in Ravenholm.
Oh wow it's been so long since anything good came out on the Gmod workshop, particularly any snpcs (that aren't made by Silverlan). How exciting!
Brace yourself Garry, you're about to make another $22m.
Two of the best games ever created combined together, fuck YES.
Classic meets classic. WIN ensues.
I've always wanted to see something like this done in Gmod.
Looks pretty good, perhaps an alternate which drops William B.J Blazkowicz instead?
SAw this in WAYWO a while back >_>
SAw this in WAYWO a while back >_>
Congrats, you're now officially 150% edgier than all of us.
So are all the weapons and enemies coded in directly with lua or does it pull that info from the iwad without any cleaning up required? Could I put in Hexen, Wolfenstien, and Doom 2 shit in there as well as doom mods and just have it work right out of the box?
Now throw in Brutal Doom and you have the formula for the best fps released in years :sax:
Now throw in Brutal Doom and you have the formula for the best fps released in years :sax:
I don't get everyone's affection with Brutal Doom, every time I see someone mention Doom, someone mentions Brutal Doom. Personally I think Brutal Doom ruins what is actually Doom by adding all these generic modern fps weapons and modern elements like headshots, friendly NPCs, kill animations, jelly on the screen when injured, iron sights, etc. The gore part is pretty rad though.
The first screenshot makes the first-person perspective seem too far down, not sure if that represents what the finished product will look like or not. Wonder if someone will do something similar for Quake.
RIP AND TEAR!
Imagine running through Ravenholm with a chainsaw.
Now we need some Doom 1 maps, like the first episode. It would be epic.
Now we need some Doom 1 maps, like the first episode. It would be epic.
It's actually not too extremely hard to port over maps from Doom to the Source Engine. If I remember correctly it went somewhere along these lines; Convert Doom Map to Quake Format, convert Quake Format map to the .map format, import .map format in GoldSrc hammer, save as .rmf, import .rmf in Source Engine hammer. The difficult part is getting doors, switches and such to work properly though.

I've never really heard anyone praise the gratuitous "modernized" elements, but nobody seems to really care since you can still play it like Doom, just with way more ridiculous, testosterone-fueled gore and meatier sound design. And I'm pretty sure you can turn off stuff like headshots if it really bothers you anyways, as well as return the weapons back to their original versions. It is a Doom mod, after all.
Taking out striders must be a bitch
After finishing this I can say I was definitely impressed by the smooth implementation, but it felt a little too easy, the damage could have been lowered on most of the weapons a little. Kind of makes me want a new Doom game.
