• What do I upgrade first?

So recently, I built a new computer, my specs that I need to be upgraded consist of: ATI 6770 AMD Athlon II Quad 3.0Ghz(640) Unfortunately, these parts don't seem to be cutting it. I Barely get 30 fps on BF3 on 1080p (All Ultra, except for shadows), a lot of games don't run at nice frame rates and it bugs me. I have the money this holiday season so what do I upgrade first? (Or just in general.)
Well the Graphics card and the Processor should both be upgraded tbh at the same time, you dont want to get a real good one and have a shitty other just bottle necking your system.
But are either one really THAT bad to the point where it'd bottleneck a new part? I only have around 300$ which is enough to upgrade 1 part really well.
get a socket 1155 motherboard with some i5 cpu if you dont alredy have DDR3 ram then also buy some DDR3 ram
I would honestly have to say both your CPU and GPU. You wouldn't want to buy an awesome GPU and have the CPU bottleneck it. And if you plan on increasing your BF3 performance you need a better GPU anyway..

Your CPU is a bit eh have you tried unlocking the cache? apparently x3s and x4s can unlock to phenom II x4s if you're lucky.
If your main concern is BF3 performance, upgrade the GPU. Battlefield 3 is very nondiscriminatory about CPUs. Then again your CPU is an old ass Athalon and should be upgraded eventually as well, but in most practical applications your GPU(s) will bottleneck your CPU anyway. [editline]11th December 2011[/editline] and if you "upgrade" to bulldozer you're a grade a nitwit
From what I've heard AMD sticks to the same socket so you may not need a new mobo. I recommend doing the CPU first.
Get a Phenom II x4 955. Then later get a 6850 or 560 ti if you want to spend more
I don't really feel like reinstalling the motherboard all over again, and personally, I believe intel is overpriced.
I believed at 1 point intel was overpriced, but then I found out how wrong I was, the architecture that is behind intels CPU's is far superior to AMD. Especially since an i3 2100 dual core can compete with the x6 1050t, if you have the money intel is the way to go but AMD is nice for budget builds. [editline]12th December 2011[/editline] Also to help with your problem if you have the cash get a 955 phenom x4 ii and a 560 ti, or if you don't have the cash for the 560 ti just get a 460 or 6850/70
That's a lot like what I just said! No wayyyyy!
