I wonder why he only mentioned poor performance in lower end systems when people with good rigs aren't able to play the game above 20 FPS. The optimization in this game is beyond shitty.
I got a mid-high end system and I can run it with every setting maxed out and at the bigger fights I rarely dip below 30fps, while everywhere else I get 50+. It's mostly CPU anyway, so an old quad-core won't cut it for the game.
I tried the game a few times now. Each time I just run around and shoot at people, with zero idea what I'm doing or what I should be doing. :v:
There isn't anything you should be doing. There is still no metagame implemented. :v:
What sort of metagame are they planning anyhow?
My main problem with Planetside 2 is, taking a base or an area just doesn't feel that amazing, it doesn't reward you with very much, killing people rewards you much, much more and as such people seem to just hang around a few big fights, while the occasional squad caps an area, and then gets it capped from behind them a few minutes later
I quite enjoy the game no matter what. I just hate when I have idiot teammates. Its usually not such an issue when defending because even with a lot of idiots, a few really good players can defend without issue. The problem comes from offense, when you need teammates who can effectively play a game of Xanatos speed chess. If the vast majority of the people involved aren't all properly planning and thinking, things just get chaotic or scattered preventing effective movement.
they just added a huge change to the way points are granted
while the occasional squad caps an area, and then gets it capped from behind them a few minutes later
This also greatly annoys me because I tend to focus a lot on captures whenever possible. And its frustrating when me and a good group of others spend hours and conquer a line of bases up the side of a continent only to lose ones right in the middle because the rest of the team never moves in to defend them.
This game really runs like garbage. Probably one of the worst running games I've seen. Such a shame.
The game ran very shitty for me when I tried it, even when I set it on low or high. It did not make a difference. Anyway the game is not really for me. I only read in countless forums and some videos that performance is an issue to a lot of people.
The game is kinda barren lately.
There really isn't much to do after your first 50 hours.

I haven't played it in a few months but I had great FPS in battles on my rig (Sort of high end)

Also, they're planning Titan-like capital ships, essentially flying versions of the largest bases. But that seems to be so far down the pipeline that it's doubtful that we'll see them even this year.
If I'm honest I just don't enjoy this game anywhere near as much as I did the first Planetside. There's just something about it that doesn't add up. It feels a lot more arcade-y than the original, the interfaces are nowhere near as good or clear either. I'm not keen on the preset classes, I much prefered the ability to spec any combination of weapons, armour and items you liked. The certification trees are over complex compared to PS1 too. It all just feels a bit clunky.
In all honesty I've probably not given the game enough time but it just hasn't drawn me in like the first instalment did.

Yeah I don't play anymore because even though it runs well when there's few people, it gets too choppy in the big battles (the most important part)
And I can run everything else well at high/max so I'm willing to put the blame on them.
Am I the only one that doesn't have a bad framerate when playing this? Like, at all?
Am I the only one that doesn't have a bad framerate when playing this? Like, at all?
I don't, and I don't even have an uber system
2500k i5 and a 560ti with 8gb ram, I've been able to max the game out just fine since the first tech test with zero framerate issues
The game is flawlessly optimized assuming you have the right hardware config. If you don't even if your hardware might be on par or better than mine it'll give you shittier performance
I stoped playing after about 30 hour of play, just feel very boring.
Im waiting on ps1 to get free, at least thats what they said on their twitter, and play that untill they turn planetfield to planetside with metagaming and features.
It's as fun as the people you play with really. Right now without any real meta game you kind of have to make your own fun. It does have huge potential though, so I'm looking forward to their 6 month plan they're releasing on Friday.
