• 360/ps3 or wait for next gen consoles?

Ive been thinking of getting a console, but the 360/ps3 have been out for a while, would it be better to just wait for the next gen or buy one of them now. And I'm having trouble chosing which one to buy, i don't really see the difference between them other than game selection.
Is there going to be a next gen?
They said the introduction of motion control such as kinect and PS Move is meant to lengthen the wait for next gen consoles for another few years at least. If you wait, you'll be waiting a damn long time.
PC. No flamewars, yo.
If you were to pick between the two I would personally say PS3 because 80$ a year just is not worth that amount of money to play online games on an Xbox, among other reasons.
I actually heard that there would be some pre/early-production/development announcements at E3 this year. So if you follow the Kinekt time frame, that means another 2-or-so years afterword well actually see hardware on the shelves. What I heard was completely word of mouth, but from a trusted friend. And no hackers getting my info. [editline]time[/editline] Not meant to start a fight, just saying that the paid service naturally has better security.
I would say its to late in the game to get a console. Just wait until your getting a new computer and spend a little more on getting a gaming pc because you don't want to buy a console with only a year or two left of support.
I don't think they'll kill off the PS3 and Xbox 360 just yet. I'd go with the Xbox 360. I have all 3 major consoles, but I have to say, I enjoy the 360 the most. Idk what it is, it's just convenient and you get everything you're offered when you pay for it. Not to mention Xbox gets a lot of DLC for games first.
PS3
Just use a PC, sure it might not have some of the more game-specific bonuses that consoles have, but in general they have a wider library and games will come out for the PC aswell as consoles about 95% of the time. Not to mention the longer shelf life (They still make WinXP compatible games, but there's a lot fewer PS2 games that are being released recently.) Just saying.
Really depends on what games you want to play most. I got a PS3 first and spent hundreds of hours playing MGS4. Would have spent the same amount of time if it had been on the 360. I honestly don't think anything but the games you want to play should influence which you get.
Ive already got a decent pc, its just ive played pc as pretty much my only gaming "console" for ages and i prefer to try a console now
Personally I would sit and wait for the WiiU, coming out this year. Hell, its dang near impossible to have worse graphics than the PS3 or 360.
The forced online interaction on the 360 is, to me, repulsive so I'd recommend buying the PS3. All the big ocmpanies are probably too busy trying to compete with Wii Motion to actually develop anything useful in the years to come. The 360 has lots of good games, but urgh so expensive. Even Sony's anal-retentive software updates sound more appealing.
You should wait... [url=http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2012/01/24/next-xbox-rumors-inbound.aspx]Here's why.[/url]
I got a PS3 myself. Lots of exclusives (Uncharted, Vanquish, ICO & Shadow of Colossus bundle) worth playing.
PS3 - Netflix, Internet browser, MUCH more enjoyable interface, no stupid Wii-looking mandatory avatars, wireless controllers come standard, much better exclusives than Xbox(IMO). Xbox - Plays games and shit, has Netflix. And to throw in this little personal tidbit that might help with the decision. In 2008 I bought my first Xbox, by September 2011 I've gone through 8 of them that had to be sent in for the RedRingOfDeath. I bought my PS3 in about December '09 and I haven't had a single error, not even a game freezing. In my opinion you'd be a fool to go for Xbox for anything other than exclusives/brand loyalty.

I've had mine for better than 2 years with no problems at all. Wireless controllers come standard on the xbox as well, and gears of war/halo are some of the most popular games in existence.

While the xbox does come with wireless controllers I personally think they are pretty annoying compared to the ps3's since they need batteries and weigh a lot.
I've had my PS3 since they came out and I've only had it crash 20 times at the most.

I know it's not going to be as extreme for everyone, or nearly anyone really, but I'm just saying mechanical problems from personal and peripheral experience seems to be less of an occurrence with PS3. [editline]24th January 2012[/editline] A buddy of mines 1st gen PS3 has been going strong for near 5 years now. Obviously there are good long-lasting Xboxs out there, I've just never honestly heard of one.

bought a ps3 at release, died last year of YLOD, bought another. bought a wii at release for zelda, ssbb and some mario games. bought a xbox 360 last year second hand from a guy with a shitload of games for 110 euros. sold all the crappy games and got 120 euro's from it. Free console with a few good games and 2 controllers. Profit. bought a good gaming pc 2 years ago

That is one of the position's it's made to function in. It's really up to a number of conditions. But that's why I keep min on the top of a cabinet, sitting flat.
