• Which GPU should I get?

I am deciding between the Radeon HD 7870: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125418 or the GTX 660: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127699 They're both the same price so it's really down to which part is actually better.
I think they're about the same performance wise, maybe the 7870 is a couple % better. You just have to take into account that certain games run better on Nvidia cards, while others run better on AMD. So the choice really boils down to which games you'll be playing and which free game you prefer to get with you GPU.
I have a question in the same vein as this one, Don't want to make a new thread so I'll just ask it here. my family is buying a prebuilt computer, It has a Gt 660 in it, I'm looking to upgrade that as I understand it isn't that great. What would be a good card for around 200-250$?
7870 free shipping ya dingus

DON'T BUY RADEON YOU BIMBO! IT'S MADE OUT OF SADNESS! for your health.

You are supposed to give advice, not tell someone to use a specific company. It doesn't matter if it's from nvidea or AMD, performance matters - That's all.

THAT'S some advice to live your life by. I'm trying to spare this guy the pain and suffering that ATI GPUs cause and you guys are just raging because you have AMD cards and can't handle reality. I didn't even mention drivers, but that's another area where AMD is lazy as fuck. even if they weren't awful, developers aren't interested in optimizing games for AMD cards. even valve doesn't bother anymore. ever played CS:GO? completely unplayable on mid-high end AMD GPUs.

uhhh since when the fuck was the 7770 the third best AMD gpu? are you seriously that fucking stupid, shit costs $100. get your shit straight before you start talkin like you know what's coming out of your mouth.

FYI you're dumb, AMD cards usually get better FPS in everything for less, I still prefer nvidia even though it costs more for the same performance.

No wonder you have such a fucking stupidly backwards view on gpu performance.
FYI you're dumb, AMD cards usually get better FPS in everything for less, I still prefer nvidia even though it costs more for the same performance.
completely false statement. you're basically just speaking the opposite of logic. if 90% of all developers are optimizing their games for nvidia, then what the fuck else do you expect to happen? just like 90% of all multiplatform games are optimized for xbox so you get shit performance on ps3 and even PC sometimes. it's common sense. wake up.

I'm not comparing it to anything, and if I was, where the hell are you getting the 600 series from? that's the highest tier nvidia has. if I WAS comparing them it would be a comparison between the 7700 series and the 400 series. which has already been covered. using CS:GO as a template, the 460 gets 120 FPS while the 7770 get's 50 at the same settings. they're both in the same price range.

Are you seriously going to dispute the fact that the 400 series is 2 generations old and that any video card goes by generation and not tier when it comes to the first number. You've gotta be kidding me. Do you also think that the 7xxx series is the first generation of AMD cards ever? Because that's what you're making it sound like. Me using the word bro means nothing, it's quite apparent already that you have no fucking idea what you're saying.
Guys just ignore/Report him and move on with the thread [editline]25th December 2012[/editline] Also, Could anyone help me with my question Don't want to waste another thread on a question that's so similar
