My Dads laptop is not working. When I boot it up, it shows the welcome screen and the sign in. But right when I sign in, a blue screen pops up. Even Safe Mode won't work. It is a Dell inspiron - 1525
It's either your system files are corrupt /missing(from hard drive failure) or some other hardware problem. Unfortunately laptops are designed to be replaced when something breaks in them. If it's under warranty I'd get it replaced immediately.
Otherwise I'd stick in a windows live repair cd; that should repair any damaged files. Then try booting on one stick of ram at a time, this would let you know if a stick of ram is bad. Since you can get to a login screen, and safe mode doesn't work. We can assume your video card is fine.
If repairing the windows files and confirming ram is okay, you have a more severe hardware problem I wouldn't know how to fix.

It would be nice if you can tell us the stopcode the bluescreen gives you.
Not all laptops are designed to be replaced, depends how shitty the brand is.
