Right, so it's using RF gathering. Not a new technology at all, though I wonder how he's solved the size issue.
Since normal RF gathering usually requires several meters worth of antenna wire, and a rather large box for converting it to usable DC electricity.

For it to be really usable for IOT purposes, I would imagine it needing to be smaller than a credit card.
