What the article said is that there will not be more consoles that are aimed specifically for playing games upon. With other forms of computing taking the market for games (phones, tablets, and perhaps movements by Valve such as Big Picture mode), consoles need to offer more features in order to keep up. This is why the Wii U ditched processing capability for its multi screen setup.

Last Gen Consoles: They will be teased/shown at some point in an important con like E3 but Xbox will make a very late release and PS will probably go for early 2014.

Rift will be more than the Falcon. The Falcon was an optional accessory that didnt change much and was a weird way to play. The Rift is kinda much more.
