blazes the competition
Looks like a 310, which is a rebranded 210. :colbert:
Edit:
Oh hold on, this is actually very powerful compared to the 310 and 210.
I might swap one of these in my HTPC
fuk
Wait, what? 2gb VRAM standard? But everything else is so... meh. I mean it's a nice mid-low end card, but it's just that. Why 2gb? Especially since it's DDR3.
the intention is to not limit the user who doesn't play videogames. videogames aren't the only things that use VRAM, you know. also, HTPC use, hence the native HDMI port rather than a mini-HDMI port as seen on the rest of the 400 series. which leads me to believe it will also use that VRAM, along with CUDA, to chew through 7.1 audio and 1080p video at the same time.
basically it's an everything but videogame/3dshit card.

it's funny though, that, being a company, they still seem to be advertising it as though it has the same kind of overall raw power as even just a 450.

That actually makes a surprising amount of sense. Well played, nVidia, well played indeed. Would I be correct in saying that it could also be used as a desperate patch between keeping something really old going to getting a whole new machine?

Since when does decoding video require 2GB of RAM? I see it only as a selling point to get idiots who think that more ram = faster card to buy it.

Either that, or DDR3 is both slower than and cheaper than GDDR4, and they used more of it to compensate for the former and take advantage of the latter.

you're not familiar with CUDA are you

this too. GPUs and their memory are both faster than just about any CPU and system RAM. though in this case clearly the GPU isn't faster than the CPU, but the VRAM is faster than most RAM.

Oh I get it. :|
