All right, Facepunch.
I've got an old Toshiba Tecra 500CDT laptop.
This thing is ancient in computer terms, and it runs windows 95.
It has no ethernet ports and no usb ports. I'm not going to use dialup just to access the internet on a 15 year old computer.
The only thing is, it pretty much runs great.
The only things I ever use it for anymore are playing Sonic CD and Command and Conquer, but seeing as how it still runs great, I'd like to do /something/ with it, instead of just have it sit around and gather dust.
So the question is, what can I do with a 15 year old laptop computer?
-Can't access the internet
-No USB ports
-I don't own a serial cable
-Only 1GB HDD space
-I'm not switching from windows 95.
-I'm not getting rid of it or breaking it.
-I'd prefer to spend no money on it.
I'm willing to burn programs and stuff to CDs to put on it.
Any suggestions?
In addition, I also have a Panasonic Toughbook CF-27 with no OS installed. It has one usb port, no ethernet ports, no cd drive (though it does have a floppy drive) and only 8GB of HDD space.
It might be old, but it's got a touchscreen, backlit keyboard, and overall is a pretty cool laptop for what it is.
I'd like to do something with it that doesn't involve making videos of myself trying to break it.
Play games on Steam with it.
Could probably put some linux distro on it.
Run Crysis
Assuming it has PCMCIA slots, get a USB/network/wifi card.
put linux on it, play crysis on it, then take a piss in your mouth.
linux sux run os x on it

Then download some linux distros off the apple store.
Just did a little research.
"There are two PCMCIA slots. Either two Type II cards or one Type III card may be used. The controller is the ToPIC95-B Cardbus bridge. It can be used in "Cardbus/16-bit" mode, where it is a PCI bridge device and supports both Cardbus and 16-bit cards, or in "PCIC compatibility" mode, where it is a standard ISA PCIC controller and only supports 16-bit cards. Most of the time you will want it in Cardbus/16-bit mode."
Does this mean that I have to have a special 16-Bit ethernet card to be able to use the internet?
Being limited to 16-bit isn't that big a problem: http://www.amazon.com/Netgear-MA401-802-11b-Wireless-Card/dp/B00005B8HO/ref=dp_cp_ob_e_title_1 (for example)
Are there any modern browsers that will work on windows 95?
Assuming I can get this thing online, I'd really prefer not to use IE5.
