So, this is something weird that happened to me today. I was playing some BeamNg.Drive and I had a chat up on steam with my friend. My friend starts telling me he's getting weird steam messages from me so I close the game and see that I have sent him multiple messages. Here is what I sent him. Meepbob: upra Meepbob: craigslist Meepbob: supra Meepbob: beamng Meepbob: dman Meepbob: supra Meepbob: craigslist Meepbob: supra Meepbob: beamng Meepbob: dman Meepbob: supra Meepbob: craigslist Meepbob: supra Meepbob: beamng Meepbob: dman Meepbob: supra Meepbob: craigslist Meepbob: supra Meepbob: beamng Meepbob: dman Meepbob: supra Meepbob: craigslist Meepbob: supra Meepbob: beamng Meepbob: dman Meepbob: supra Meepbob: craigslist Meepbob: supra Meepbob: beamng Meepbob: dman Meepbob: supra Meepbob: craigslist Meepbob: supra Meepbob: beamng Meepbob: dman Meepbob: supra Meepbob: craigslist Meepbob: supra Meepbob: beamng Meepbob: dman Meepbob: supra Meepbob: craigslist Meepbob: supra Meepbob: beamng Meepbob: dman Meepbob: supra Meepbob: craigslist Meepbob: supra Meepbob: beamng Meepbob: dman I'm not really sure what to make of this but it's making me believe someone else is on my computer. If there is anyway I can confirm this please let me know how to do it.
Unplug computer from internet and run malwarebytes/Avast!
Unplug computer from internet and run malwarebytes/Avast!
I ran a full scan and it came back with only 2 items which were removed, I did have the Ethernet cable unplugged though. I'll run it without it tonight. Is there anyway to get a better confirmation?
The only time I've seen automatic text input like that is if the machine was rooted (rootkit.) If MBAM and Avast! can't find anything, you may have to use a rootkit revealer. I'd change all of your passwords (Steam, email, etc.) immediately on a known clean machine and try and find the rootkit. The only program I know of that can potentially find some deeply embedded ones is: http://filehippo.com/download_rootkit_revealer/ But you have to know what you're doing because it also lists legitimate processes.

Edit: Running this revealer doesn't work, I get Rootkit Reveal has stopped working as soon as I run it....
Try in safe mode. Spam f8 on boot, and select safe mode with networking.
Try in safe mode. Spam f8 on boot, and select safe mode with networking.
Why with networking? I've unplugged my Ethernet now out of fear that the link I was provided was another root kit....
Then not with networking, as long as you have a root kit remover already downloaded.
Uhh... Do you have a special keyboard or mouse with macro keys? I've seen 3 or 4 of these kinds of threads and they go through all sorts of virus busting steps and it turns out they accidentally recorded words or commands to their keyboard/mouse macros.
Then not with networking, as long as you have a root kit remover already downloaded.
I tried that and it still would give me the same error, I also tried downloading it from Microsoft's website, still didn't work. Is it because I'm on 7? They talk a lot of XP on the DL page. SuperDuperScoot, I checked and none of my macros are set to any of those words, creepy. One thing I've done is turned off the automatic services for Team-viewer and LogMeIn Hamachi and set their startup to manual, don't know if that helps though.
Does this happen during any other game? Any other program, etc.
Does this happen during any other game? Any other program, etc.
No, this is the ONLY time it happened. I'm still not sure what to think, all of the root kit removal software, boot scans, and other virus scans have come back clean.
Then I really, honestly wouldn't worry much about it. If that's an isolated incident and it's NEVER happened with anything else, I don't think you have anything malicious.. I'm pretty sure something malicious, or someone on your computer other than you would type out coherent-ish sentences rather than singular words that happen to relate to what you were doing at that very moment. Except for 'dman' and 'craigslist', I can't explain that.
