I'm trying to get Plex to stream movies to my Smart TV, it's a Vizio E320i-B2. The TV will play .avi's with no problem, but wont play any MP4's, all of the MP4's are in a H.264 container. I thought Plex had a feature to convert the stream to a compatible format, but I guess I'm doing something wrong, please help.
Thanks in advance!
Does the smart Tv have an offical plex app? If not then its very likely that you are getting the content via DLNA which means it wont be able to transcode the media into a format that can be displayed on the TV. Also what is the server running on? If its a NAS then it will need to be a relativly decent one to be able to support transcoding

The TV does have a Plex app but Im not using it because you have to pay to use it, so I'm using DLNA. And the server is running off of this machine

If the TV is running DLNA it means it wont get transcoded meaning the format that its saved on the server as is what the TV needs to be able to play
