• GPU Fan problems: One spins for a short few seconds on start-up then stops.

So, I had a thread about my GPU acting up and about a day later I discovered what the hell was causing it: One of my GPU fans is not spinning at all. The problem is that that the same fan will spin just fine when I start my computer up and stops after a few seconds. The GPU itself isn't dying as I thought it was because I've been able to play in moderation just fine with no side-effects. I was going to get a new GPU soon anyway, but I'm convinced that the GPU is still savable at this point for backup use, but I have no idea if it is the motor acting up or not. Anyone got any ideas?
Have you cleaned out the fan? Try taking out the GPU, cleaning it, and manually spinning. If you get any resistance, the fan is bad. You can usually get a replacement fan, or a straight aftermarket heatsink and fan setup.
When did that start happening, I know almost nothing about things but can't you change how fans behave from BIOS?
Are you using any third party overclocking software? Some can control the fan speeds, and may accidentally be set to 0 or something.
Your other thread states that your graphics card is a MSI GTX 660. Assuming this is correct, then this isn't the cause of your problem. It is the intended functionality of MSI's Frozr cooler design; it stops the fans when they are not required to keep the card cool, decreasing power consumption and noise output. MSI does have its own software which can be used to control the fans manually, and change the threshold levels at which they activate.
