Would love for the steam client to have a complete visual redesign. The current UI was made in 2010, wasn't it?
I hope its a hybrid of the original design and modern designs
so just the store is getting an update
I'd take it just the web end will, not just only the store
If valve deem it neccessary, they probably will also do the client
might follow some design choices from tenfoot, but I don't expect too much work tbh
idk about you guys but I'd love it if Valve went in this kind of direction

the current design is gross and reeks of 2010 and I'm sick of using 3rd party skins to make my eyes not bleed every time I open Steam
plus Origin had an actually nice revamp recently so it'd be a good response to competition.
The Steamworks post literally states that only the store will have changes, with homepage getting visual refresh.
Shame, the whole client could do with a complete rewrite.

yeah, when I saw the title that's what I was really hoping for myself.
Can someone make a Steam client lite with the opensteamworks module that people have been working on? Or is that too far for what it allows?
maybe they'll finally fucking separate store and community.
mixed and negative reviews both get the blue colour so it looks less biased
calling it

Aren't they already separate? What do you mean?
Aren't they already separate? What do you mean?
Load a store page for a game. Go over to community to look at the game hub or something. Click store at the top, goes back to home page of the store. Click community, goes back to home page of community.
Gets annoying real quick.

Contrary to how some people seem to be freaking out, I think the UI looks fine. The backend though could definitely use fixing. So many goddamn bugs with the system...
they could do with making the client a bit less chunky looking
I foresee Valve porting the desktop UI to panorama in the coming future, might not come with any visual changes though.

of the desktop interface or the actual website?

this music and dialog is the most pretentious shit I've heard in my life for a fucking UI pitch
I think I'd rather take a hot shit on this interface than look at it after watching this

Why did you take it so serious. The video is even called PC Master Race edition. It's intentional, since it's just a UI concept.

He uses that hyper dramatic music in his other videos and it presents itself seriously, it just makes it look dumb.

Who gives a crap about his music choice though. The video is about the UI not his music selection.
I would rather they optimized the steam app because it's sooooo slooooooow
Dude, it's 2016 and valve's the only storefront that doesn't support touchpads and touchscreens properly. :v:
They reaaaaaaaaally need a patch ASAP.

it's valve, they only update steam's interface 10 years after the previous iteration
I don't feel like Steam is slow or unresponsive or clunky, works like it should for me.
(Though every experience is subjective.)
Metro for Steam is the only thing you'll ever need
Metro for Steam is the only thing you'll ever need
but does it fix underlying layout issues in the steam store?
The version I have from debug shit only has this scollbars in css override
so not really
steam's entire interface is a pile of spaghetti, coming from someone who works with it as a tiny hobby
Who gives a crap about his music choice though. The video is about the UI not his music selection.
Vertical menu options seems totally pointless and just uses more space than you need it to unless you're using it for a games list. I also don't really think the music choice is fitting for a UI that I find looks really underwhelming and actually kind of redundantly overdone.
Steam should focus on a small change that's a big improvement if you want an opinion on the UI. I don't think it really deserves the attention it got in views. Same shit goes for Big Picture mode.

Big picture allows touchscreen support naturally actually (or at least I'd imagine it does)

the only issue is that it massively sucks
I want them to overhaul this to the point of no return and at least allow for people to change the color from a dull blue to anything
I just want Tabs
