I've been considering getting a camcorder so that I can record an event next week and upload it to youtube. I want it to be as cheap as possible, but I don't want to buy a piece of crap. I've been looking that these: http://www.amazon.com/Flip-Ultra-Camcorder-Generation-Minutes/dp/B0023B14U4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1270922252&sr=8-2 http://www.amazon.com/Kodak-Pocket-Video-Camera-Black/dp/B002HOPUPC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1270922306&sr=1-1 I'm leaning toward the Flip because it's cheaper, and I don't need to buy storage for it. But the Kodak from what I've heard is a little nicer video quality, has expandable storage and external mic support. But I'd have to spend about $20 on an SD card because AFAIK it doesn't come with any built-in storage. Also that Flip in the link isn't HD, but there are HD models available. I'm open to other suggestions.
I have a standard flip video *Not ultra, and not HD*, and the quality is really nice, so I would go for the Flip ultra :P
The Flip records at 640x480. Do you really want that over 1080p?
