Y580 Doesn't Boot with Battery In?

Our power went out this morning, and now the laptop doesn't boot with the battery in at all. Can batteries be surged?

Have you held the power button for 30 seconds with the battery out and tried again? Also, I doubt that it messed up the battery.

Although not very common, batteries have been known to short out the laptop, and cause them not to boot. I honestly am not sure of the cause though.

I fixed the boot problem, now it's not charging. Odd
