cats make good pets because, like dogs, they are domesticated, but unlike dogs they are very mysterious and invoke a sense of curiosity in humans. also, their shoulder blades look so pro when they walk.
dogs, on the other hand, make great companions. I say companions because as far as pets they are often high maintenance (which isn't a bad thing, really), like walking a Mastiff is one of the toughest things you'll ever do. however, dogs are more fun to play with, like go to the park and throw frisbee and stuff.
in short, I voted cat. but I like dogs too. gah dang it.
