My question is, that will the GTX590 give me a noticable performance boost over the 8500GT in Garry's Mod? As in will I be able to spawn more props without lagging. Also, will I be able to spam millions of nukes or will Gmod just crash.
What's your CPU?
Well right now it is some quad core thingy, but on my new build it will be a i7 2600k
Uhm, don't know if this warranted a thread but yes you will be able to run Gmod. Hell you could run Crysis with 3000 barrels and make them explode and watch the world burn.
Noticable? Uhh are you a troll?
the 590 is one of the most powerfull cards in existence and the 8500 is a 4 year old card which can only be used to watch some HD movies and play old games on low settings.
You GPU doesn't help in the physics department, but it is damn fast at rendering.
I have a GTX 570, and I get 500fps+ in Gmod, a 590 will make that look slow.

Nope, I have the 8500 GT right now, and I have L4D,CSS, Gmod mw2 and believe it or not crysis, all maxed and it works perfectly. I was a bit suprised at crysis though.

Nope.
I had an 8600GT, Crysis maxed out at 14fps for me on low (my GTX 570 can get 70fps on Ultra)
Nope.
I guess we're speaking 800x600.
More like 320 x 240
Do not get i7 2600k, you do not need it afaik.
You probably do not have a powerful enough PSU for a 590.
GET A FRIGGIN 580 or 570, Do not get a 590, it is pmuch useless without watercooling (Heat is high, fan needs to cool it more, it gets very fucking loud and starts to disturb you too much)

Is it really *that* hot?
My GTX 570 can hit 95c+ during intensive use (Crysis 2, etc.), and that's a normal temperature for it.
Edit: And yeah, the i7 isn't really worth it unless you're doing media stuff.

I am using it to render videos, and a faster render speed would be a godsend for me.
Oh yeah, you had a fuckton of monies :v:
Get that i7 then.
If you know how to or know somebody who can do watercooling for you, get a 590, otherwise 580/570.
You can get a monster build like Brt has. Aka i7 2600k and dual 3GB 580-s.
Did the OP really just ask if a goddamned GTX 5 fucking 90 would give him a performance increase over a fucking 8500?
Just I mean just what.

no it doesn't

no? it's fine, especially if you have a case that isn't a total piece of shit
everything you said is wrong, the card wouldn't be on the market if it was useless without watercooling

then you're doing it wrong, my slightly overclocked stock cooling 570 maxes out at 68C, stop running the fan at 20%
actually, the 2600K is a fairly substantial step up in performance over the 2500K, they're also binned higher which means higher overclocks as well as being better for doing offline things like rendering or encoding

can you stop? obviously if he's buying a 590 he has a good enough case to vent the heat, it will be perfectly fine

Like what I said last time, stop throwing random bullshit assumptions around without knowing the facts about the card. The GTX 590 is neither hot or noisy with the stock cooler. Get your facts right.

actually it is hot and fairly noisy, but not to the point he's trying to say it is
My GTX590 runs on 80C when using the stock cooler on max load whilst playing Metro 2033, and the fan noise is barely noticeable comparing to other high end cards like the 6990. That's not really that hot comparing to today's standards.
Stock fans on most cards are horrible (The plastic case impeller ones) Just get one with a dual fan (XFX o for example) and you will have no problems.
my (palit) 570 has a dual fan, barely ever breaks 70 degrees even in crysis, metro 2033, gtaiv with enbseries etc
I smell a troll.

Hahahahahaha, No.

It reeks of it.
It reeks of it.
I am not actually. I just wan to know if it will give me any noticable difference in gmod.
I am not actually. I just wan to know if it will give me any noticable difference in gmod.
I wouldn't buy a GTX 590 just for Garry's Mod. That's overkill. It's much cheaper to go with something lower tier then, like a GTX 560.
I am not actually. I just wan to know if it will give me any noticable difference in gmod.
I had a 8500GT and upgraded to a HD4870 and it ran so much better, so yes, it will give you a HUGE boost.
I am not actually. I just wan to know if it will give me any noticable difference in gmod.
It will give you a noticable difference, but the 590 won't give a noticable difference over, say, the HD 6870 because it's complete overkill.
You'd get about 400FPS, even though your monitor can likely display only 60.
