• Motherboard makes a beeping noise at certain times?

So, I think whenever my RAM is in intensive use as I heard it mainly while rendering in SFM and loading worlds in Minecraft, my motherboard makes a long beeping noise for as long as something happens on screen. If I render, I'll hear a sorta beep every time a frame is rendered. I had a look and noticed that the light next to the RAM on my motherboard blinks in correlation with the loudness of the beep. It can get annoying sometimes and I'm wondering if there's something I've buggered up. Everything runs fine and all, though. Motherboard: MSI Z77A-GD55 RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8GB
What do you mean, pull them out and check? I have two sticks and they've been in use for less than three weeks. I've heard this noise pretty much since the PC was built. [editline]10th September 2012[/editline] My PC's performance hasn't screwed up at all. Games run at high framerates, everything works as normal. No reboots or freezes. Are you SURE the RAM is failing? [editline]10th September 2012[/editline] Just this beeping noise happens under high load. It isn't a beep, more of a quiet 'zzzzzz'. It's still just audible enough to annoy me.
I think its capacitor squealing from your motherboard. 1.The motherboard will fail sometime soon. 2.It won't fail and keep on working with the squealing sound.
All of these are brand new parts. I'm guessing I just have to deal with the squeal [img]http://i.somethingawful.com/forumsystem/emoticons/emot-clint.gif[/img] [editline]10th September 2012[/editline] I could possibly RMA the motherboard but I couldn't live without my PC for that duration :v:
Can I ask you to record the sound? It would probably help in the case it's something more serious.
I've recorded it, uploading My friend suggests that it might just be good old coil whine [editline]10th September 2012[/editline] [media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTywGAD3Wv8&list=UUCzjnvj_UTXAnkhF9XeerTg&index=1&feature=plcp[/media] Whenever the light gets intense, you should be able to hear the 'zzz' [editline]10th September 2012[/editline] Although the light also might just be lighting up every time a frame is rendered
Are your temps in check? Some motherboards have the ability to beep and warn you when your temps are going above the threshold set in the BIOS. Also would explain why it happens when rendering in SFM, given how intensive rendering can be.
It isn't beeping, I should have used the word 'hum' or something to that effect. It just sorta goes 'zzzz' under a high load, or whenever the RAM is in use, I think. [editline]10th September 2012[/editline] What's a decent temp checking program? I heard speccy is unreliable but nothing is above 38 degrees

Are you sure it's the motherboard? I know that PSU's can coil whine often. On an old PC of mine it took me a while to figure what caused the squeeling. It sounded like the motherboard, but in the end it was just the PSU whining when it needed to deliver a bit more juice. You should check it to make sure. I hear also a whine from my PC when I get the "Server shutting down" screen in Minecraft, and that is caused by my GFX card.
