Finally we get a tiny bit more info, even if it's not from Nintendo themselves.
That's... sooner than I expected.
I was hopping later so I have time to save up in buying the new peripheral so I could hack it.
Am I the only one not totally psyched about this wii U? Seems pretty meh

The only game that interests me is pikmin 3, which is a shame, as as much as i adore pikmin. Buying a whole new system just to play it seems idiotic.
I want a WiiU
Not because of any specific games, but because Nintendo has always had some nice games.
It can go with my other Nintendo systems.

I'm not excited for it either.
They've made some lofty claims which haven't been supported as fully as people think.
I doubt they're going try anything new with their franchise except for Pikmin 3(which is a long time coming).
They've stagnated and the handheld device while from what I understand isn't as heavy as I originally though still seems way to bulky for any real use as well as the inability to seamlessly transition from the buttons to the screen itself.
From every thing I've gathered it just seems like a massive Nintendo DS bottom controller was born and the console just kinda...connected to it. And it doesn't matter much anyway because if you've played the old Nintendo games and then played the newer games, the soul is gone.
These are not the same games as what we remember from childhood. Mario Galaxy was amazing but what's after space? Dimensions? Will we get to see what 4D looks like?(Actually that sounds cool)
The height of Zelda was Windwaker, that was the peak and now its sliding down hill.
They've already stated there is going to be less characters for Super Smash Brothers which might be good or end up like the latest iteration of Marvel vs Capcom.
I'm not even going to go into the fucking WiiU sports that will most likely come with the console or the plethora of Mario *insert something here* games.
If anything, you should all just be happy that we're finally getting next-gen consoles. This thing actually has more modern hardware so any games made for it that we get as ports will be better.
That's the only plus I can see from it. I'll be standing in the background for the next generation.
I tend to shoot for the consoles with newest IPs and wider array of games which is why I want for the PS3 this current generation.
Have they said anything regarding the price or backwards compatibility? If it's reasonably priced I may pick one up.

Isn't this console just on par with the PS3 and Xbox 360?

No, it's miles ahead.

It's much better than the PS3 and Xbox 360, which isn't really that hard at all to be honest considering how old they are
their hardware is honestly very pathetic and I can guarantee that if you threw their equivalent hardware into a PC case and ran Windows on it you couldn't run any modern games very well, if at all
the only reason modern console games run on them at all is because they're pushing their hardware to it's limits and optimizing the hell out of their games specifically for the hardware
yeah who is even going to buy this

It's compatible with all Wii games and Wii controllers, but nothing before that.

Which is an amazing feat to be honest.
The only games I want from the console are Zombie U and pikman 3. I'm hoping it will only be like $200 or $250, but I'm expecting $300

It is amazing, and it required a ton of documentation on the hardware of those consoles and how to optimize for them. For example, the PS3 uses the cell processor, which from what I've read is a bitch to code for since it's nothing like the CPUs you see in most computers.
I just wish people didn't worship this generation of consoles like they're state of the art. I have a friend who thinks that the PS3 is way better than any PC and he won't listen to reason when I explain how shit it is.

I think Nintendo would probably lose this generation if they release it for over $300, or at the very least they won't make the most of their 12 month advantage on Microsoft and Sony.

(Actually it is since its uses OpenGL and therefore could easily be ported to PC)
Anyway, yeah, this current generation is dead but I'm going to keep my PS3 because I doubt the PS4 will be backwards compatible.
To all of my fellow retail employees, I would like to offer my heartfelt sympathies for what will undoubtedly be the Black Friday to end all Black Friday's if this rumor is anywhere near accurate.
If the game selection is as lackluster as the 3DS's then it's a no sale from me, made the mistake of getting a 3DS at launch only to not have any games for it for 6 months.
