Nvidia has announced it's 2 new architectures to come in at 2011 and 2013.

Not a lot of details to be had, but NVIDIA wants you to know Fermi isn't the company's be-all, end-all GPU -- "hundreds of engineers" are already hard at work on Codename Kepler, expected to go to production this year and ship in 2011. Kepler's based on a 28nm process, we're told, and will thankfully deliver an estimated 3 to 4 times the performance per watt compared to Fermi, and hopefully run cool. If you built your last PC to last, however, you might wait for Maxwell in 2013, supposedly bringing a sixteen-fold increase in parallel graphics-based computing just two years after that, including advanced features like the ability to autonomously process some content independent of a CPU.
Update: Does this roadmap mean we should expect new GPUs from NVIDIA every two years? Jen-Hsun Huang wouldn't commit to that, but said that there will be "mid-life kicker" product launches in-between each new NVIDIA chip to keep the wheels turning.

Seems that they're taking the 'Slow but steady' path.
holy shit maxwell
I can only imagine the quality of game graphics in 2013.

PS4/Next Xbox wont be out until 2014 and beyond, average game graphics quality will be ever so slightly higher by then.
Nvidia also seems to be continuing the Physicists naming scheme. Wait for the Einstein GPU.

I like that naming scheme. not sure why exactly.
But if they do get their GPUs doing that by then, damn, I can't even begin to imagine the performance of those.
watch the prices soar
Hmm Nvidia is cooking up something good... :v:

because it doesn't sound retarded like calling your GPU a Hemlock

I was hoping that statements like that would go unsaid.
Look at my articuno avatar and let the troll and flames in you reside.

I wasn't making jabs at the cards themselves. Hemlock just sounds stupid.
give me maxwell or give me death
I just hope that making 460 equivalents becomes a tradition for each generation of nvidia GPUs
Imagine the framerate of Crysis played on a Maxwell-based GPU
somehow I don't think Maxwell will be a consumer GPU
somehow I don't think Maxwell will be a consumer GPU
Probably gonna be featured in quadro cards.
Or another Tesla scam, such as disabling 75% of the DP cores in the standard consumer cards
Maxwell gave me a boner.
Also 2011? Fuck I buy a Fermi and a new architecture is on the way.
Can't wait. I am getting a new pc somewhere after 2011, so I will get the new card if it's out.
hol-e-shit
So Maxwell will be 7x more powerful than what we have now,
Sweet Chist.

and then the next generation Maxwell should be double that
[editline]05:14PM[/editline]
and so on
2013/2014 should be around the time the new console generation gets prepared to launch. a big performance boost would certainly help there

just in time too, the xbox will be almost a decade old.
Fuck! I just bought two GTX 460's.
Goddamit, that means my current PC will be obsolete next year.
[editline]11:54PM[/editline]
And I bought it this year.
[editline]11:54PM[/editline]
And it's a laptop.

You mean by frying the contents of your case? :mmmhmm:

urgh aern't people over this yet
I was talking about the future. I wonder how hot this Maxwell will run. :tinfoil:

door is to your upper right hand corner
Nice; by the time Maxwell comes out, I'll have a job.
