• Sound Card?

I'm looking to buy an internal sound card for my PC, as the onboard sound on my motherboard has always been a little dodgy. I have the Intel P55-US3L. Can I install one in the PCI-E x8 slot or whatever it is? Also, can anyone recommend any sound cards, for heavy music and gaming use?
x-fi cards if i recall are pretty good, i have one, but then again the drivers are shit (at least from my experiences ) ASUS Sonar is supposed to be good, but may be on the expensive side and yes, if it fits, it works.. it may not fit, if the back goes 'down' where the 4x slot usually ends.
PCI-E cards designed for smaller slots will work in larger slots.
X-Fi XtremeGamer, X-Fi Titanium for gaming. ASUS Xonar DX for music. X-Fi for both. The XtremeGamer is basically a Titanium, so.
I am in love with my Asus Xonar DX, but I am primarily producing music and listening to music, not playing games. I would recommend it.
Make sure you dont get the XFI-ExtremeAudio ,thats basicly a rebranded audigy 2.
Depends on your budget, the Xonar Essence STX is a PCIe card for around 179 Euro, its designed for high end headsets.
I never really saw a point to a new sound card. So I either just use the sound output on my HD5770, or the stock plugs.
