Yeah, this does have to do with computers, just think about it.
Well, I've got a rig secured this summer, but I'm not sure which I should buy first: a $200 monitor or an Ikea desk. (undecided on the desk).
Now, I'll say I've got things to tide me over until I can get either. I have a shitty half-plastic desk and a very small monitor without a stand (I use random cords to hang it on nails), so needless to say, I need an upgrade.
I think I should go for the monitor first, then save up for a desk as it'd be more important to secure a good monitor first.

if the desk is too small and flimsy (aka you feel it's going to collapse) buy a new one
The desk will hold up, it's just peeling a bit and pretty small.
God your current set up sounds shit, a moniter hanging by nails and cords? Fuck.
And I can't get pictures, no camera, but both of them are 4+ years old.

Get a monitor.
Ikea's website won't let me look at the desks. :( And when I check last, all the good desks were gone. Anybody got any other suggestions?

Staples always has fantastic desk deals. If you get like a 50-100 dollar desk, you could still probably pick up a 19-21' monitor on craigslist.
Office Depot always has some really nice desks.
Every store besides Ikea that sells desks is overpriced.
