So a month ago I had to get my computer fixed and brought it in to the shop. A guy fixed it and said he replaced a fried stick of RAM and the CPU and Fan because the CPU was torn off slightly.(Don't ask how)
So he finally repaired it and only up until a few weeks ago did I realize my computer was going slower than before.
So I checked my hardware in the Control Panel and it said "AMD Processor Model Unknown 798MHz"
He told me he replaced my previous processor (2.2GHz) with a slightly faster one... so I was confused what was going on. I updated drivers and nothing changed.
I looked at the invoice he gave me and I paid for a Phenom X4 965 3.4
$175!
My current processor says 798MHz... not 3.4 GHz!
BUT! I looked at Speccy and found
"AMD Phenom II X4 965Deneb 45nm Technology"
So Speccy picks it up, but there is no way this computer is running at 3.4GHz.
Also, Under the CPU tab in Speccy, next to Specification it says AMD Processor Model Unknown
Can somebody explain what is going on?
It's called "AMD Cool 'n' Quiet" technology.
When the CPU doesn't have a load on it, it throttles down to save power. Download CPUZ and run that while opening a game and you should see the core clock jump to 3.4 GHz.
So then I assume I could run Skyrim with this right? Because I saw the requirements and it said 1GHz at least.
wow. I'll try that.

I just ran TF2. I had single digit FPS before but now I was running it in the 50-150s
Thanks!
