• dumb PSU question, but I'd appreciate if someone can help me out.

I'm about to order a new pc and I'd just like to know if my older psu will be compatible with a newer motherboard and graphics card. Normally, I'd just get a new one but I spent a decent amount of my money on the one I've been using. So, preferably I'd like to keep it. This is the power-supply, I'm currently using and hope to use with the new build http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817703009
It's an ATX power supply, check and see if your case is an ATX form factor. If it is, it will fit.
Unless you're upgrading to haswell, you should be fine.

[editline]26th December 2013[/editline] Correct me if i'm wrong tho. Still i don't think it would be so much different. After all GPU is the one eating most power.

On the contrary, it has something to do with voltage stability at extremely low loads (on the 12V), while having a load on the 5V and 3.3V rails. And something about the amount of time the PSU should be able to provide power after a shutdown at the wall iirc.
That's a good PSU and plenty wattage. GTG. :downs:
