• Worth it to replace screen of an HDTV?

So I recently came upon one of these TVs. [sp]Now it's all sticky.[/sp] Hehehe, but seriously. I was riding my bike when I found that someone had left one outside their house on the curbside. I immediately though "HOLY FUCK FREE HDTV" and got the car to pick it up. I brought it home and plugged it in. Fuck. So anyway, I get to thinking. We have a shit CRT-TV from years ago. It's ancient, and recently, has been malfunctioning. At some point, we'll need a new TV. This HDTV I picked up would normally be capable of 720p video. That would be satisfactory. Even though the screen is broken, the rest of it seems to work... When we turn it on, we can see the corner of a "No signal" box on the screen. (Note: There was no signal cable plugged in so this is expected.) I'm wondering how much it would cost to get a new screen for the TV, and have it installed (Hell if I'm gonna do it, and hell if my father would let me... "THERE ARE CAPACITORS IN THERE THAT CAN SHOCK YOU EVEN WHEN IT'S UNPLUGGED!"... is that true?). And is it worth it? Facepunch, help me out here.
I wouldnt risk it, you might spend money on replacing the screen to find that another component doesnt work, costing more money. Try buying a new one.

Buying new is always better than repairing.

Just one day have a really big fake fight and throw the tv out your window and act all pissed. The neighbors have to see it though
specially not that kind of tv for a price that high
It would cost more fix an LCD TV than it would to buy a new LCD TV. A decent 42" costs $700 U.S.D. now, maybe less. Mine did at least, not counting sales tax.
Try buying a new one.
I would do this if i realy wanted a new tv...
