He'll last a few months at best, pretty much every Starcraft 2 player that tries moving over to any DOTA style game* fails miserably and either quits or never stays pro.
* [sp]"MOBA" sounds dumb, as does most other names for the genre[/sp]
was that really necessary?
It was in spoiler tags you didn't have to click it.
That's not really what spoiler tags are for.
Okay I'm sorry I tried to hide something that could potentially make people pissed.
If you wanted to hide it, you wouldn't post it in the first place.

Plus not all MOBAs are like Dota 2 anyway, Smite is completely different to the usual RTS style of MOBA that you think most MOBAs use.
[editline]12th October 2013[/editline]
Actually if I look through a list of MOBAs, most of them aren't like Dota at all.
But Dota 2 is almost exactly like Dota 1 (Except it has cosmetics, shiny graphics, a lot more voice acting and slightly better systems)
So really they're pretty much the same game.
Smart move there is probably a lot more money in the LoL pro scene compared to SC2.
It sucks he has to leave SC2 but this is what these guys do for a living so they go where the money is.

Dota likes aren't like RTS games though. Not counting a few select heroes, dotalikes are much closer to a nonpersistant diablo or other ARPG. Hoenstly that's why I think a lot of RTS pros don't do so well at them. Dotalikes are much much more focused on that one single entity which you have to control in tandem with the rest of your team. Most RTS pros are more used to just dealing wth the decision making of themselves, their enemy and managing much more actions at once.
When I say DOTA style I don't mean dota 2 I mean the original DOTA, a lot of games were influenced by it and some of those games were even made by the people that worked on the original mod.
In which case you can just call it an AOS style game. Honestly though, I don't mind calling the genre dotalike - just as we call ARPGs diablolikes.
This is a real shame. I remember one player wanting to beat another player in WCS because 'he plays LoL', which was awesome. (And of course, he did). MarineKing was great fun to watch. Sucks he'd stoop to that low level, but I guess if he can earn money out of it, he should.
The sad part about any pro leaving for LoL is that 90% of the t ime it's because Riot pays more money, not because they like the game.

A good example is that Valve bought out Fnatic and other pro teams from HoN, basically saying, 'play our game instead and we'll pay you <this much more>'. It was a bit upsetting, because Fnatic was the best HoN team at the time. Valve play nasty.
It would help if Blizzard gave a shit about supporting their games as a esport.

Where did you hear that hilarity, valve bought out noone. Those HON teams moved over to dota on their own volition.

You should really stop coming up with bullshit to justify teams leaving your favourite game.

what the fuck
[editline]12th October 2013[/editline]
fnatic left for dota 2 by themselves and they often said they consider dota 2 to be the better game
LoL and Dota2 are very easy compared to traditional rts games like sc,age of empires etc and they are more popular, SC2 is getting less players every day, sad truth.

Easier in what sense? I'd agree if you said mechanically, but the overall picture could be debatable.

No they aren't. The games are very different in how they're played. And high level Dota is on par with high level Quake or high level SC or high level CS.
