• Baby squirrel not accepted by parents. Now what?

So my little brother was playing outside with his friends, and in front of our house there was a baby squirrel laying on the ground, for like 3 hours the mom won't touch it, and it's too weak to climb back up to the tree, so my dad put it in a plastic crate with some towels and it's resting in there (it ain't dead), and it moves every now and then. It barely has a tail, and it's actually really freaking cute. Anyways, does anyone know what to feed a squirrel that you can get from around the house? Also, do they make BA pets?
u eat it
I've seen cats that breast feed squirrels.
The only cat I have is a boy, and we just found him like a week ago. Luckily he's house trained and is actually a great indoor cat. Used the litter box first day. No collar or anything.
Put it back where you found it. Squirrels are bad pets.
Take pictures. Post on Internet.
Eat it. On a serious note though, take it to a vet to get all it's shots and shit, then keep it as a pet if you're so attached to it. Otherwise, eat it.

You might be able to get some sort of powdered or otherwise packaged milk - but it won't be easy to get hold of. Otherwise you can try something intended for kittens?

Hahaha, wow. No but this thread is honestly for real. If we still have it by tomorrow I'll post pictures. And from what I can tell you don't need a permit to own a squirrel here (Florida). Maybe get it some shots and take it's claws out, so it is completely useless.

From what I've heard, Squirrel's make really good pets, and the thing people like about them, is they always have their outdoor instincts from birth, so apparently they can be let go, even after being raised from birth by a human.

That is if it can eat solids.
Grab it and shake it till it stops moving. That means it's happy. But seriously, milk/crushed nuts should be good.
Holy crap, so it's been sitting in that bin for about 30 minutes and theres blood on the towels, and my dad went and picked it up really gently with some yard gloves, and theres a rip on it's side, and it's cut open. Don't know if it can be fixed. We think it either fell or that a hawk tried to get it.

Stitches maybe, or just put it down slowly. It's actually kind of sad, not just like roadkill but that it's probably dying really slowly. Now I'm kind of put out.

We once found a baby mockingbird in our yard. (more like 3) Needless to say, they all got put back in their nests while my rescue min pin was there to find them. The mother was not pleased.
