As a heads up, always look into the Nvidia Shield Forums regarding the updates. Nvidia does a very shit job when they put out updates. They can break a whole lot more functions than they fix or add.

I've had good experience with Splashtop for playing my desktop from my laptop, however the free version only limits it to the same network.
