Even if it did it seems kinda pointless right now. Its good that we have the technology and all but as it stands even having 50-100mb fiberoptics rolled out has put us ahead of the amount of data we need to store. Right now I'm connected at about 71mb and it takes me 3-4 mins to download a 5gb game from Steam which is less than downloading a song on 56k, but this will be useful in the future when files are taking up 50/100/150gb of data.
Also for it to have a major impact those kinds of speeds need to be supported by webhosting companies and such, otherwise probably the only way you'd max the connection out is by downloading 5-10 different things at once.
At the same time this only costs £5 more than my 80mb FTTC so if it did roll out in the UK I wouldn't be complaining.

If you would want to download an uncompressed blu-ray movie if you own the movie but don't have a blu-ray drive in your pc it could take up 30-50gb.
And to think, I'm still stuck on the same shitty 300kb/s download speed and 55kb/s upload speed, and will be till at least this time next year.

cool so it'll take A FEW FUCKING MINUTES JESUS FUCK
this has more far reaching implications then you think, because of the faster speeds, people will start to want bigger HDDs as they fill up what they have MUCH faster, which also means that games on PC on things like steam will get bigger file size wise, this also means that people will start expecting better quality from streaming services, faster servers, lower pings, making this global would be the push that gets the computer industry really going
