You might remember my old thread where I was building my computer, yes? Well I mentioned I was going to get new ram, I did, It's all in, but DDR3 really doesn't feel different from DDR2 I used to have.
What's the difference?
How about RAW SPEED? The MHz always seems to double, and the DDR3 standard has triple channel, making it than much more faster.
It Triples the MHz? I'm not so sure.

No, it doesn't triple the mhz. You can use it in Dual or Triple Channel which increases speed greatly.
Care to elaborate?

Why did you use farmville as an example? I doubt that game eats up any memory.
It adds an extra channel a.k.a. a "bus" which transfer the memory between your RAM and other computer components. So DDR3 has one more channel then DDR2 making the transfer of memory faster!

Well DDR3 doesn't have to mean triple channel, although it is very common.
Just Google it or something, no-one here seems to know the actual answer (myself included)

DDR3 is faster, uses less voltage.
from what I've seen it overclocks better too
Also, When upgrading from you're 775 slot cpu's you'll need to use DDR3 or else it will not work, 1156 slots and above will need DDR3.
I've got LGA 775 slot CPU anyway.
DDR2 has lower clock frequency's and lower timings.
DDR3 has higher clock frequency's but higher timings and also the voltages are lower.
In RAM lower timings are better. So its either higher frequency or lower timings.

Perhaps the increase in frequency is bigger than the decrease in Timing?

Frequency outway the timings though. Thats why they are producing more ram that can do higher frequencys. Go learn some stuff.
If I had a 7200rpm drive in my Macbook Pro, I could probably see a difference when I bootcamp Win7 compared to my two year desktop which has DDR2. If I ever get my student loan I'll let you know if the difference is significant, for power consumption DDR3 wins I know that much.
In simple terms it adds another "bus" which increases Mhz speeds.

The DDR3 standard isn't really triple-channel..
My 3x OCZ Gold XTC DDR3 2Gb 1333Mhz is alot faster at 1540Mhz than what on 1333Mhz even tho timings increased slightly.
Hell, my ADATA 1600MHz ddr3 ram was shit, mobo only could get it to 1427MHz and at 9-9-9-24.
Traded them in and got G.Skill and put it at 7-7-7-21 and the speed can be easily recognized.
