does anyone know when the next iphone will be out? its time for my upgrade
No.
[editline]04:04AM[/editline]
Though an upgrade is expected to be coming soon.
yeah i heard it would be announced in april but ive heard nothing of a conference
Probably September.
Who knows, maybe they'll announce OS 4.0 at WWDC.
Usually the iPhone revisions are announced at WWDC, which is probably going to be late June/early July this year. The iPod revisions are announced in September.
Damn, son. Have a badge.
but surely its way about time for some information? in my eyes the iphone is the dominant phone but at the same time its also got alot of competition atm, including the nexus one, the hero, the legend and blackberrys
Apple is secretive. It's the way it's always been except in the case of the iPhone and the iPad where the FCC would've revealed the products to the world anyway.
oh i agree with you and i think its a great way of marketing, but my contract has run out and im sooo tempted to upgrade
It keeps people excited. Apple is a marketing company at heart. The iPhone, iPod and now iPad brand along with their mac brands are the reason they are so successful. Not only is the product what you want but it's really hyped, heavily product-placed and 'prestigious' to an extent. Steve Jobbs is a fucking excellent businessman.

I must admit, their ability to peddle mediocre hardware and unremarkable software is definitely impressive.

The hardware isn't always mediocre. This is actually one area they've been improving recently, that and price. The macbookpro is a glorious laptop. I love mine, and being in university and seeing other laptops, I wouldn't trade mine for any of them. Sure, mine was rather expensive but there's a reason I bought it--I have the money and it was worth it in my opinion.
However, these views differ on other matters, mainly the iPod and new iPad. I can't justify spending the kind of money they ask for a product that is inferior to other cheaper products (see: cowon S9) or simply unnecessary (who really needs an iPad?).
The macbook pro is way behind in terms of specs. Only reason I'd buy one os for that glorious look and the nice metal unibody that doesn't creak. Otherwise, it can go fuck itself. The new trackpad is a horrid design choice as well.

Actually I hope the new iPod Touch releases in June before my Birthday so I can buy it with my Bday money. :downs:
iPhones are released in June, iPod Touches in September. At least according to Apple's pattern of scheduling they are. I'm sure that link was posted before. :raise:

I disagree with you - Apple's only fault to this respect is not handing everyone a diff to the SDK docs so people will stop complaining about how Snow Leopard is "the same".
Do you think <= iPhone 3G carriers are eligible to get a deal or even not have to pay for a new iPhone? I'd like to get a good deal when I upgrade my 3G.
well with 02 i can trade me 8gb 3g in for £173 and upgrade to a 32gb 3gs for £179 so thats not too bad

and you are on the same contract, and the same amount into it? cause that isn't a bad deal. I'm really feeling the strain of my 3G but my contract doesn't run out until November. A 3GS would make me much happier as much as I love my iPhone
my contract is £45 a month for 600 minutes nd unlimited txt and internet but for the same package it will also now be £40 a month, im upgrading tomorrow so no doubt something will be leaked a day after
What exactly will the next iPod have?
Camera? I have a cell phone and a digital camera.
More Disk space? Expected and would be nice.
Multitasking? Won't that be a firmware upgrade for everybody?

I just might get a 3rd Gen anyway, since the 4th Gen doesn't seem to promise anything too exciting.
so o2 only offer trade ins online so i would be without a phone for 10 days. for what i pay thats a load of crap!
