Never played SPESS MAHREEN, but Deus Ex is definitely a contender for game of the year.
If you read Neuromancer and even remotely liked it, you'll like Deus Ex.
I'm probably gonna get both, most likely Deus Ex first.

Deus Ex is a must get game if enjoying rpg/fps.
But if your a fan of Warhammer 40k series, then you should get Space Marines.

Don't worry about not finishing Deus Ex. It's not that long. I finished it in a few days.
Deus Ex since I'm unfamiliar with Warhammer.
If you like hack'n'slash gameplay go for Space Marine.
If you like more tactical first/third person shooter/rpg gameplay with an interesting along with ragdoll physics and hilariously bad AI, go for Deus Ex.
