Trying to install another GB of RAM, retention clips on the free slot are black

Total building noob here. I'm installing another 1GB of RAM, and the slot I'm trying to install it into has black retention levers. The 2 slots that have RAM sticks in them already have white retention levers. Is this bad?

why would the color affect usage anyway?

you just want to put the first two in the same color slots for dual channel
