A few hours ago my computer randomly froze when i was using it, so i rebooted, and it was fine, then it happened again, and when i went to reboot, the computer starts but nothing comes on screen, at first i thought it was my graphics card, so i removed the graphics card and tried using the vga port on the motherboard, still no luck. The pc doesn't even POST, i'm thinking maybe the mobo has died. Any ideas? thanks
"PC starts but monitor doesn't " Hmm, I don't know... Maybe try a different monitor?
Tried another monitor, no luck
Seems like your power supply.
if it isn't posting yeah the mobo
Seems like your power supply.
Tested the power supply, its fine
if it isn't posting yeah the mobo
it wasn't posting, but when i removed both sticks of RAM it did, so now i'm thinking its maybe the processor? is it possible to have corrupt RAM stopping it from booting up? and not picking up on POST?
Normaly if the system was working good for awhile, clean it out(Dust, ect). If the heatsink isn't overheating then your CPU is perfectly fine. Processors dont normaly cause this problem.. Rather your mobo is fucked, graphics card is overheating or dead , Ram died, or your power unit isn't supplying anough power to get it running. Btw what do you mean when you removed both sticks it did, do you mean it didn't? If you removed Both sticks, and if you only have 2 sticks. Of course thats not going to work. You need memory installed for it to do something..
POST wasn't working, but when i removed both sticks of RAM the long beep indicating RAM was missing worked, so POST must've been working. I think its the mobo, gonna try a friends RAM tonight, but im thinking mobo.
Are you running off dedicated graphics or on-board?
