"Local Area Network Disconnected!" EVERY FIVE MINUTES

Every five minutes or so, one of those retarded bubble things pops up and says "LOCAL AREA NETWORK DISCONNECTED" even though my Wireless is working fine. It's Windows XP Home SP2, if that helps.

This may sound stupid, but make sure the router is plugged in properly. My router/modem has a stupid plug, that's super loose, and kept disconnecting.
Just a suggestions :3
if you use wireless you can just right click it and disable the ethernet port (not the wireless). that should stop the pop-ups.
Well I got more info on it. Every time it pops up, it pops up exactly three times in a row with about three or four seconds between each time. The exact text is
Local Area Connection
A network cable is unplugged.
I do use the ethernet port often at school, is it doing this because it 'prefers' wired to wireless?
And the rate increased tonight from every five minutes to every two and a half minutes. :wtc:
I could probably help but im on ubuntu right now cause my windows install decided to fuck itself.
If you turned off your wireless router you would probably notice the same thing but with the wireless adapter complaining.
If you are using the Ethernet port, just disable the adapter.
But I use both alternating between school-ethernet and home-wireless every day. And weirdly I unchecked the box that said "alert me when connection has limited or no connectivity" or something in the ethernet settings area.
There's a probably way to stop the bubble from coming up with regedit.
First try right clicking, not on the network mini icon thing but beside it on the w/e it's called bar.
There should be something in there to hide icon and notifications or to not display the icon at all.
Like I said stuck on ubuntu no way to verify this + I have 7
Step #1: Install SP3.
