Bought a GTX 970 yesterday, now my pc keeps rebooting when running games.

Pretty much what the title says, I bought and installed the card, now, while playing games my pc will reboot after maybe 10-15 minutes of play time. I'm not really sure what to suspect in this case, the PSU or the GPU.
The PSU incidentally is 500 watt which I was told would be enough.
While playing I can get really consistent frame rates, solid 60 and up while playing games like Metro Last Light and The Division on high to ultra settings, The Vanishing of Eathan carter as well, with the resolution scaled 200% was rocking solid 60 to high 50's. Its not even like theres a performance decrease or heat increase before the reboot, the thing just turns off. That lead me to think there was a loose connection, I checked around and there was nothing striking me as being loose.
So really, the only 2 options left that are obvious to me are that either the PSU isnt powerful enough or that the GPU is faulty.
I should mention as well I thought, that I also had a reboot while playing Pillars Of Eternity, which although a pretty game, isnt particularly demanding, so thats kind of an odd one out.
Heres a screen cap I got while playing Metro, I don't really know what a lot of this means, but I hoped that someone on here would.

If anyone can inform me as to whats going on that would be pretty awesome. I have a few options open, obviously buying a new PSU or returning the GPU, but I also have a spare 550 watt and my old graphics card.
Which PSU exactly do you have? You can also look at the sticker which should be on it, how many amps on 12V rails?

One sec, I'll have a look.

Also, correction, this is apparently a 550 watt PSU, I honestly had no idea.
Weird, that PSU should be plenty enough for a 970 and the rest of your system. So your PC just reboots without anything weird happening before that? Usually when you have a faulty GPU, you either get artifacts all over your screen or frequent driver crashes/bluescreens.

Yeh, I figured something like that would happen. But it just does a clean reboot, no artifacting, no crazy noise, its a bit anticlimactic honestly.
Every time I have ever had this issue after installing new hardware, it's a PSU problem, regardless of if it should be sufficient. It's probably worth swapping it out if you're capable of finding an extra just to test.
Tried running it without any overclocks on your cpu and gpu?
It's always a good idea to eliminate variables when debugging. If you're still having issues, maybe try another graphics card if possible
I had this same issue with a 560ti and a 500 watt PSU. Swapping out the with a higher wattage one fixed it. Just my two cents.

I do have a spare, I'll wait a bit to see if there are any other suggestions and then I'll swap it.

I'm guessing I can change that in the program I posted screens of? Any advice on what numbers I should be aiming for, I have absolutely no clue with what to do with overclocking.
swap to the spare and try running your game for a while. If it's another 550w and it reboots without warning like before you're probably best off finding a bigger PSU, though I couldn't tell you if there's anything that should actually be drawing that much power. A 650w should be like $60 from best buy so it's not the worst part to have to replace/upgrade
Its the PSU.
Doing it now, thanks :)

Before I do, will this PSU be good enough?

You can try but the issue might be that the PSU is not cranking out enough juice.
Or, it could be a faulty regulator — in which case — simply swapping to a similar PSU will do.

When replacing a PSU, if you don't know what your actual power consumption is on your system, you should always get one of the same wattage or higher.

ahh...right, I just finished fitting it when I saw this. Thanks for the info though.
try it, if the problem stops we'll know it was just the old PSU being busted
good luck bub
Same exact thing used to happen to my PC.
It was definitely the PSU.
I just played Metro LL for a good half an hour 45 mins or something? Seems to be absolutely fine. I'll update if anything changes. Thanks for all the help though I sincerely appreciate it.
BTW I'm giving away some games

Thought I should mention since you helped me out.
If it continues working, RMA the XFX. It very well may still be under warranty and XFX is great about warranties. The XFX is a much better quality PSU than that OCZ, I wouldn't recommend it for that long. 550w is more than enough for your system though. 550w is enough for just about any single GPU system out there.
