So far i'm thinking http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834215004 is the best bang for my buck.
Sandy Bridge i7
GT540M
4GB DDR3
USB 3.0
etc
Just wondering if anyone knows any better deals out there.

I found this, the No OS is not a problem, i can use my multi PC copy of windows 7.
Can anyone vouch for Sager or should they be avoided?
My teachers all have them but none of them like the computer because its really slow.. but they only have 2gb ram.. idk about you but i would stay away from them.. stay name brand to be safe...
If all of your teachers have them, they're probably old, base-model ones that were eligible for education discounts.
I really hope sager is reliable because if i can save money and get a better machine i'm all for it
No they just spent 500 grand on new computers for the teachers, the also go ipad 2's and new projectors

I go to a small tech school
I've heard Sager is pretty good. I'd wait for other builders to hear what they got to say first though.
Looks like the Sager is out, the fucks want to take 3 weeks to build it and ship it.
Fuck that shit, if they're going to play that card they should AT LEAST cover the god damn shipping.

I have this exact laptop model, I only hate the speakers as they're on the underside and not on par with today standards. 540m for games is perfect for 1366 x 768, does horrible over that res. Might find the touch pad to be annoying at first but with usage it smooths out. It's a solid build, pretty light and skinny compared to my old HP laptop, it's good.

It doesn't take that long actually, I ordered mine in the Intel callback on feb, got mine in less time than they said, in fact they told me I prob. wait 2 months, but got it in 2 weeks
Well at the moment i'm on an old AMD dual core desktop until i can get a laptop. probably ordering friday (bank is being a retard and the money hasn't gone through)
I found a Lenovo IdeaPad y560p that's got better specs than the acer and similar specs to the sager and is $150 off its normal pricetag of $900.
This way i can get a mouse and other peripherals for it.
Lenovo is better than Acer, but I'd still rather get an ASUS or MSi, etc. Your call though.
