Ubisoft did one good thing and they couldn't help but fuck it up.
Ubisoft did one good thing and they couldn't help but fuck it up.
Seems like they're going full scumbag mode with adding lootboxes to Wildlands as well.
it'd be one thing if it came with one of the year passes. but the "advanced edition" essentially adds nothing to justify the price increase besides some currency and lootboxes. its fucking ridiculous
They just made it even more confusing to get into an already confusing game. The Starter Edition should have been flat out removed. It's such a scam.
This just seems absurd. Most, if not every game, big or small, tends to go down in price after a full release. Mind you, the game came out on December 1st, 2015, so it came out roughly two years ago. Most mainstream games like this retail for $60 at launch, then go down to something like $40 or less after a couple of years; but Ubisoft did a complete 180 with the idea and bumped the price UP after two years. To quote the article
It's worth underlining that buyers will get slightly more out of this version of the game, but in the form of bonus cosmetic item packs and in-game currency, not operators, although that currency can be spent on operators.
Basically (from my understanding at least, I've never played the game) you get virtually worthless cosmetic items and "currency". I'm sure the average player who walks into Gamestop, or searches for Siege on Steam won't be happy that their $40 won't any longer be good enough to purchase what was the standard version of the game they wanted to buy. Also: Why? Why have the standard edition removed and replace it with "advanced edition" that tacks in shit cosmetics and "currency". To me at least- this seems like a way to get their [del]players[/del] consumers to purchase their cosmetics and "currency" for an extra $20 right at the check out line for the game INSTEAD OF waiting for them to see if they like the game enough to spend real money on shit cosmetics and "currency". woah :s:
So that's how you get a spike in sales between now and February the 13.
Smells a lot like they want to push the sales of the Starter Edition which will make them more money when people find out how awfully slow the grind is. No standard edition and standard users apparently don't even get the extra stuff according to the tweet in the article is just such a scam.
The one problem I have with this game is the ridiculous amount of time you have to put in to buy new operators. It feels like I have the majority of the game's content locked away from me despite paying full price for the original game. The fact that they're now raising the price is a mindfuck.
What were they thinking?
I kinda wish I got into this game earlier, but at least I bought the full game on sale before they pulled this shit.
What were they thinking?
"We want more money"
Did Ubisoft get bored of being nice and decent
But guys it's a dying company and they need the money!!! /s
I was thinking of picking up siege next time the price went down So much for that I guess :v:
They could do something like payday 2 ultimate edition and just pay the extra 20$ to get all operators and cosmetics, mind you that is still a bad idea but atleast you will get something more of substance for spending more money than just more shitty cosmetics.

"Spend $20 and get all these operators included!". That would sell like hotcakes, and offer a DLC version permanently for those who already own the game.
I'm sure that as someone who's owned starter edition since its first announcement I'll be seeing a solid 0 changes, based on how they handled the outbreak shit prior to the backlash. I'm betting that it'll be more "if you buy it now you get [x] in addition" shit and I'll still have no reason to go for the rest of the starter operators because they're not worth the asking price.
