Why couldn't it prove that the game needs map changes.

I don't think it needed to since the maps already do a bang up job of proving that.
Every fucking time lmao
Not true! I skip some news articles so I don't become predictable.

Think of it this way: if the general Overwatch community had as much of a problem with the maps as some of the people here do, they would've done something about it by now.
But from what I've heard pre-nerf new Mercy was so incredibly busted that they had an urgent need to fix it.
She was fine before.
I don't think it's a high skill pick off if they don't kill the mercy

Such as?

Numerous chokepoints on maps that are absolutely awful and only have one "alternatjve" route that is only usable by those with the movement abilities to reach it (ex: first hanamura point)?
Even then its hardly a side route when its 2 feet away from the choke itself
I don't play OW much but what's so OP/bad about a res, like in my mind it's literally what it says you can't really nerf that and if someone uses it at the right time then that's just good on the part of the player, again don't shit on me too much as i don't play enough but it just seems weird?

They don't complain about the maps in OW because most of them don't know any better.

Well imagine you're in a huge fight where nobody goes down because theres either a shitload of shields or a shitload of heal, and then suddenly, you get a big break and kill someone, which makes it THE time to act and flood the ship through the really small dent, but suddenly, all that effort went to shit because a Mercy pressed E.
"Oh then kill the Mercy, simple."
It's never as simple as that. It's the whole "good luck, I'm behind [insert shitload of something here]" thing. You'll never be able to get to her.
So, in other words, it went from a game where a mercy jumps out of a corner and goes LOL NOPE at your killing spree, to a game where she denies your kills.
The problem here, I believe, is the fact that old Mercy was more of a crutch for amateur players, and new Mercy is a "crutch" to the pro players.
Maybe instead of having her fully revive a teammate, why don't they change her into a gradual revive and heal instead?
Instead of fully reviving people, you revive them but they are reborn at 1hp, and Mercy's ability instead gradually heals your health back up to either its max or to whatever is more balanced. That way, it'll force you to think things through, as you could be wasting your ressurection on someone who could die right after being brought back.
If Overwatch had a community map editor I feel like complaining about maps wouldnt happen as much

It would still happen because you can't vote for maps
Such as?
- More than one giant door before the first point
- More flanking routes to be able to surprise the enemy
- Less chokepoints
- Better respawn places
- Maps being created with the abilities in mind

No they wouldn't. Expecting thoughtful design from Blizzard is a tragic mistake.

Blizzard seems to be too locked away from the community to do anything like that.
I honestly can't even begin how surprised I was to play a single match of Overwatch after months and see what happened to Mercy. It goes without saying that I haven't played since then. Rez has always been a terrible cancer on the game and the fact that they thought it was a good idea to let Mercy do it more often just shows how generally incompetent Blizzard is.
