I highly recommend a ds4 for PC gaming though
Its supported by steam natively as well
I've never had an issue with my wireless X360 pad and it's just plug-and-play with the dongle, I even keep a bunch around for parties. Since they aren't used constantly, the AA rechargeables are a plus.
If you're complaining about the dpad why wouldn't you just use your keyboard instead? Digital input doesn't get much better than 100+ mechanical switches you can bind to anything.
