Post good non-late ratings-worthy content. Doesn't mean post purposefully unfunny stuff, just stuff more worthy of a different rating.
Focus is on friendly (cute,) informative, winner, artistic, useful, etc.
Basically, cool/cute/useful/awesome stuff general thread.
Funny and Zing pics are for the LMAO pics thread. This is not LMAO Pics v.99b.
Normal Facepunch rules apply here.
No gore, distasteful, racist, stuff you wouldn't post in front of a mod, etc
Light discussion is okay, but there should be content in your posts, as well.
Artistic pics and whatnot should not be your own, since we have a subforum for that.
Videos are okay as long as they are interesting, but funny ones should still go in LMAO pics and
Since LMAO pics is now officially funny-worthy content only, I figured it'd be worth an experimental "whatever you can't post there anymore" thread.
So let's try this out.
Long story short just post innovative/interesting/artistic/historic/inspiring stuff. Tag NSFW, and use common sense.

Wouldn't Marines technically not count for land?
Wouldn't Marines technically not count for land?
Marines aren't [del]part of the navy, nor are any of them[/del] sailors. Their only connection to the sea would be that they use it as their main method of deployment (at least during WWII). Otherwise, all marine combat takes place on land.
Would kinda be like saying the air-force doesn't technically count for air because they take off on runways.

Ehheh.... still...
Regardless, this thread's off to a great start already, lots of amazing content posted and it's just the first page.
Should we stick a link to the old thread in the OP before it gets buried?

This one blew my fucking mind. I just scrolled down and noticed the dirt road and didn't really look at the image. But then I went back and saw all of it.
Is it a real picture or a really-realistic painting? The road looks like a photo but the rest is surreal, kind of. My mind is getting the treatment too.

You can clearly see the entire outline of Africa + Europe, so i'm going to guess it's a photo-realistic deal.

The bottom part is a photo of a hill, which then sharply changes to a render/computer painting/composite image.

here's a question for math and geometry nerds:
How high up would that mountain/hill have to be to see the earth like that.
I'm guessing low earth orbit at least.

Looks close enough to where the ISS orbits, maybe 50k lower?
Gutfeeling says the earth curves more than that aswell.
It would also be a very small earth.
I don't think you'd actually be able to see nearly that far simply due to light refracting too much in the atmosphere.
thread title might as well be "it's always cthulhu at the end"

The curvature is exaggerated because the photo is taken with a fisheye lens.
[editline]16th January 2015[/editline]
You can also see the air glow which is a neato effect.
