ok so i got a new computer about a month ago. i just bought counterstike source and was disapointed a bit when i started playing. seemed like my FPS was lower than i expected, getting down to 25 at some points! i ran the stress test and it said im at about 100 FPS. Am i just expecting too much from my card? can someone recomend me some settings for my card cause im still running it at default.

What are you rest of your specs? What brand is your power supply, wattage, and amperage on the 12v+ rail?
Also, have you even installed the drivers?
You should definitely be getting much higher framerates. I could max out CSS on a 7900gs with the framerates rarely dropping below 60. Hell, even 100fps is way too low for the stress test, i just tried it with my 4850 maxed out, it got an average of nearly 250 fps. As mgear already said, make sure you have a good enough psu and install the latest drivers.
all my drivers are up to date and i have a 600w powersupply... think maybe the card is defective?

I just got 220FPSish on my 4890, surely mine should be higher. Unless your were on a lower res (I'm 1680x1050)
