ok so i got a new computer about a month ago. i just bought counterstike source and was disapointed a bit when i started playing. seemed like my FPS was lower than i expected, getting down to 25 at some points! i ran the stress test and it said im at about 100 FPS. Am i just expecting too much from my card? can someone recomend me some settings for my card cause im still running it at default. my card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161276 [editline]08:29PM[/editline] any help anyone?
What are you rest of your specs? What brand is your power supply, wattage, and amperage on the 12v+ rail? Also, have you even installed the drivers?
You should definitely be getting much higher framerates. I could max out CSS on a 7900gs with the framerates rarely dropping below 60. Hell, even 100fps is way too low for the stress test, i just tried it with my 4850 maxed out, it got an average of nearly 250 fps. As mgear already said, make sure you have a good enough psu and install the latest drivers.
all my drivers are up to date and i have a 600w powersupply... think maybe the card is defective?

Unless your were on a lower res (I'm 1680x1050)
