• [QUESTION] Xbox Live Through Computer - How To Get Open NAT?

So my Xbox is connected using an Ethernet cable to my PC which then wireless connects to my router, therefore saving me £60 of a wireless adapter for my Xbox, how can I turn my NAT from moderate to open? [Also posted in General Games Discussion] Router: USRobotics 9110 ISP: TalkTalkUK OS: Windows 7 RC1
I think you should be able to go under network connections and set it to bridge connections between your lan and wireless.
What ISP are you on?
I think you should be able to go under network connections and set it to bridge connections between your lan and wireless.
Read properly, I already have the connections setup, I just want my NAT to be Open instead of Moderate. Bridging the connection fails on my Windows 7 RC1 so I have to make the network adapter share the wireless adapters connection. Any ideas???
Opening ports has to be done through the router, though if you've already done this, to forward ports through ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) use this screenshot:

Also to notr that I use Eset smart security, I have also tried temp disabling the firewall but this doesn't help. My ethernet seems to make a network of its own my router runs on 192.168.2.* but my ethernet is 192.168.0.*, I have already forwarded some ports to my computers ip (192.168.2.2) . I cannot forward the xbox directly because it doesn't have a local ip with the router. I manually set it to 192.168.0.187 on the xbox. TL;DR I need xlive ports and instructions on how to port forward on ICS(I can do the router)
Go to portforward.com and forward it for xbox live. Also make sure UPnP is enabled.
Why can't you plug the 360's ethernet cable into the router, by the way?
Why can't you plug the 360's ethernet cable into the router, by the way?
Do you really think I am that dumb? Thats the first thing I would do if the router was actually in my room!
Nat is quite difficult to change, but I found that manually setting your ips helps some with the process. This is a very common problem googleing xbox 360 nat settings will help you a lot. Even if you cant keep your xbox near the router try connecting it directly to see if its the router you need to deal with or the pc. I have port forwarded some things so that may have been why. I have tried turning off all forms off firewall on my PC (Eset,ICS) but still, moderate NAT. My lounge = SDTV My room = HDTV :(

I don't know, but if this helps in anyway, and it probably won't, but my NAT type went from Moderate to Open out of nowhere. It may fix itself I guess.
With an attitude like that you don't deserve help.
Attitude? I clearly wouldn't plug it into my computer if I knew my router was nearby...
You might not have known to do that, he was only trying to help.
I am upgrading to Windows 7 retail now, hoping it might help :)
isnt there a program or a website that does this? found it: http://www.xbconnect.com/ this is a useful post.

1. Setup A Static IP Address for your xbox. (Xbox Guide/System/Network Settings) -Just copy down the IP Address and DNS Settings it automatically obtains. Change the setting to manual input and input what you just copied. 2.Login to Router And Forward Ports 88, 3074 on Both UDP/TCP -Make sure you forward the ports on your xbox's IP Address that you previously setup. 3. Nat should be open. If all else fails add ur xbox's IP Address to the DMZ.

Congratulations welcome to the wonderful world of open NAT. You'd think Microsoft would realize with all the dumbasses on xbox live they would need to provide a bit more assistance with this issue. Not calling OP a dumbass.
