I'm looking to buy a new computer in a week or two, and just wanted opinions on what I am looking at. Furthermore, I`m looking at buying the parts from a local computer shop: MysteryByte Computers. I plan on using this thing for gaming and computer aided design for engineering (not sure if that is important/relevant), and would like to have the capability to upgrade it in the future.

Hard Drive - Seagate Barracuda 1TB $99.00

Is everything compatible? Is this any good, or are there better options? Also, would there be any benefit to choosing another brand of graphics card and processor over AMD?
Thanks in advance.
Might be useful to have a harddrive.

Please excuse me while I go knock my head against a wall.
I'm not sure how heavy your scenarios are, but I would definetly get a Intel processor.
If possible a i7.
Also, get a Nvidia graphics card. Again, no idea what software you use but in some of the cases I have seen you can get accelerated by using CUDA. Also NVIDIA graphic cards are commonly used for this kind of thing.
What would make them a preferable choice when compared to other processors and graphics card? I am not tech-savvy enough to understand all the different specifications and stats.
I think an i5 3570 would be in order for this build, you lose 4 virtual cores compared to the i7 3770 but you can always upgrade when haswell is released. Ivy bridge CPU's will drop in price by a lot.

Also the Place you want to buy from has not a lot of choice by the look of it and is really overpriced.
The Gigabyte line of ATX mobos is really nice, I would go For the UD3 version.

I've been checking ncix and newegg, and besides the graphics card (which is about 20 more) everything is roughly the same before factoring in shipping costs. I got $1004 at NCIX for instance, before shipping.
Check Canada Computers, they might be cheaper.
