ways to reduce price/reccomendations?

I recently learned my friend's computer is in serious need of an upgrade. I assembled him this:

He isn't going to be doing that intensive of gaming, but I'm hoping to get him into some other stuff when he assembles my ~custom built uber 1337 gaymen computer~.

For $600 I would say an AMD build is better suited for gaming

now if he's doing more CPU intensive tasks then stick with the i5, but make sure you either get H**/non-K CPU or P67/K CPU
